Estrace (Estradiol) is a prescription medication in the estrogen class of drugs. It is used to treat a variety of medical conditions, including moderate to severe postmenopausal vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes), atrophic vaginitis, female hypogonadism, bilateral oophorectomy and ovarian failure, and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis. It is not safe, and should not be taken, in pregnancy or nursing. Due to the large number of drug interactions, side effects, and associations with various disease states including cancer, DVT,stroke, and PE, it should only be used in the smallest effective doses and for the shortest durations.
